Can't believe we are nearly into the sixth month already... Had a ChufferDuffer meeting here on Tuesday, and we got a bit of work done on the Teifi Gorge. Pat and I splattered a multitude of colours on to the gorge itself, while Col and Chas sorted out the turntable operation at the Cilgerran end, which was sorely in need of attention (I'd made a right cock-up of it...)
Likewise the one down at St Dogmaels - so they have that to look forward to next visit!
Anyroad up, pics of Tuesdays efforts:

Today I started on the hillside and tunnel that separates st Dogs from the middle board. I made it as a lift-off section that will cover the join in the two boards. At the moment its a cardboard carcase covered with paper towels stuck down with wallpaper paste - I've got more Modroc, so that will make a firm shell once the paste has dried. The hill in place:

And on the saw horse:

I was going to leave this until after tomorrow, wasn't I. However the mojo kicked in and I found time to do a bit of ground work on the TGR, which has been neglected for a few weeks.
So, with polystyrene, crumpled newspaper, and a few rolls of Modroc, we now have the rudiments of the gorge. Everything was given a rough base coat of a mix of emulsion paint, acrylic colour, PVA and some finishing plaster just to bind it all together.
Cilgerran castle will be on the rise as you leave Cilgerran station - the middle board being one of the quarries between Cilgerran and Cardigan.
At the front of the middle board will be a shallow bit of the Teifi.
This is looking from St Dogmaels towards Cilgerran. Castle will be on the right, bit of estuary on the left, then there will be a small hill to separate St Dogs.

The 15:30 passenger train leaves Cilgerran:

And arrives (eventually) at St Dogmaels
Had a bit of spare time this morning after watering the greenhouse, preparing the bed for runner beans and weeding the onions, so I cracked on with Login Station. I think the building is more or less finished now - added drain pipes, GWR sign boards to the front, door knobs all round and completed the lean-to extension, including the chimney, which was later removed.

The next two have been Photoshopped to remove the lower 15mm of the carcase.
(The loose slates will be attended to when I get the ladder out...)

Thats it until next Tuesday!
The residents of Login Station can now sleep easy in their beds - it now has a slated roof!

Been a bit quiet on the modelling front as we took a three day break up in the Malvern hills. However, back on track (sorry) now.
I've put a roof on Login Station, but no tiles as yet, although it has barge-boarding, chimneys and chimney pots. Also the extension on the back:

Today I made a start on the two sheds, the one nearest the station we think may have been a small goods store, as Login never had a dedicated store. The one at the South end of the platform had two doors - we have unconfirmed historical reports that the end door may have been a 'gents'. No doubt we will be corrected in the fullness of time...

Pic below is a mock-up:

More progress to Login Station - Finished the internal detail yesterday, wired up the flickering fires and the ceiling lights, checked they were all working and then installed the module into the carcase of the house.
First up is a shot of the inside of the rooms:

Next a mock-up of the station against the platform with lights on - LEDs powered by an old phone charger transformer pushing out 5 volts. The lights will take 12 volts as they have resistors fitted.

Looking through the living room window:

and into the station masters office:

Next job is to fit a roof...
Small bit of progress made to Login Station House today - I made a start on the internals - though for the life of I can't think why, as nobody will be able to see the detail!
Two flickering fires, one in the living room, and one in the station masters office. There will also be lights in the ceilings of the three downstairs rooms.
This is the living room:

At a recent meeting of the Card-Bach Society Colin and I offered to build a scale layout of Login Station to go into Peter Towns 'Railway Wagon Museum'. This restored wagon is alongside the house, and will contain all of Peters memorabilia relating to the Cardi-Bach, and Login Station in particular.
The layout will be in 4mm to the foot, and to scale. Not a huge undertaking, as there was only one through line with a siding, later turned into a passing loop with a head shunt.
I have made a start on the station building already, with progress pictured below.
First of all measurements taken by Peter were scaled down in Photoshop and plans of the buildings walls were drawn up, printed onto plain paper and then stuck onto card and cut out:

A start was made on cladding the cut-out walls and adding windows and cils. This is how the build looks at the moment:
More as and when...
