Bit more work done on the TGR layout last night - Colin and Patrick cut through the track for the engine shed, cleaned all the track and had trains actually running! Couple of minor glitches with wagon axle boxes fouling the point operating rods, but a bit of astute dremeling cured that.

This morning I had a bit of time on my hands so made a start on landscapeing:

Tuesday evening at Colins, and still battling with Pats errant loco. I must get a picture or two to illustrate the progress (which is slow but sure...) General discussion on Welsh language, plotter printing, and Morse taper sizes, amongst other things. We studiously avoid religion and politics, but occasionally reminisce about sex ...
Pizza, pork pies and the usual imbibing of grape juice and in Charles and my case, fermented hops barley and water.

On the modelling front, I spent most of today (Friday) wrestling with the Cigerran turntable. I ended up stripping it out of the baseboard, sorting out the mechanism, and then reseating it all from underneath. Still a bit of weathering to do as I had to enlarge the hole it fits into.
Two Pics showing above and below:

The new replacement chuck turned up for the pillar drill - duly fitted and holes now being drilled into everything I can lay my hands on.
Wednesday meeting this week, as it was the monthly meeting of the Cardi-Bach Railway Society on Tuesday evening.

Anyhow, last night we all met at Ffynnonwen and got the turntable installed on the Cilgerran end of the'Teifi Gorge Railway' layout. A joint effort requiring four of us to fit a 4" diameter piece of kit - but we did it! Here is a picture with one of the locos' sitting on it. It still needs fixing in place properly, and the turning mechanism fitted - but at least it fits in the board!

Charles brought along a pillar drill that was surplus to his requirements as it had a knackered chuck. I swopped a pair of computer speakers for it, and this morning managed to remove the chuck. Got a new one ordered, due at the weekend. Meanwhile I fixed the pedestal to the work bench.

The damaged chuck is on the bench in front. A tapered drive, but not part of the chuck, as we first thought.

Closed the evening with a homemade Cheese, leek and potato flan and the customary bottle (or two) of French Laughing Water.
We met at Pats this Tuesday, first time  all four of us together for several weeks, so it was all talk and no modelling, although Patrick showed us the loco that had been giving problems - it was a second-hand white metal kit that Pat rebuilt - he and Colin had to make new coupling rods, then it was discovered the motor magnets were goosed. Pat got a new motor and gear wheel, and he gave us a demo of it running. Success!!!
Celebrated with wine and quiche and a video of Grimy Wet and Rusty engines.

On the home front, I've spent my time building old Superquick kits for Mike's 3mm layout.
They are low relief shops/houses, which I have had to adapt (thanks to Photoshop).
