Patricks last Tuesday, where we sorted out the backscene for Cardigan, as Pat had installed several electro-magnetic uncouplers - which worked! Also tidied up the turntable axis, which was a bit too long. Excellent home-made pizza, with everything on it, including pineapple and anchovies. Washed down with a small glass of french laughing water...

The last couple of days I've been tidying Boncath ready for July 11/12, making the main layout board for Login, and doing a little bit to the quarry section of the TGR. The story goes that the slate was quarried in big slabs, and then trucked back to Cilgerran to the dressing shed for eventual export.
Consequently we had to have a rough cutting shed and crane facilities at the quarry.
Below is the quarry board up to date:

And a couple of pics to show a bit of detail (small amount of Photoshopping to hide gaps)

Off to Chas tomorrow, where he has promised some vintage cheese (some of which he has to chase around the kitchen...)
Mornin' all.
Had a productive day yesterday with the middle board of the Teifi Gorge, and also with the Login layout. Got all the timber for the Login boards, and had the 9mm ply cut to size at Chadzys in Newcastle Emlyn. Had I bought the same ply and timber at B & Q it would have cost just over twice as much, and they don't cut for you at the Cardigan branch.
This is the basic Login geometry, with spare old buildings plonked on to represent the cottages:

Main board will be 6', with 4' traversers at either end.

Meanwhile on the Teifi Gorge, more progress with the scenics. The stream under the railway line now has water in it, and slate bridge parapets each side. Real slate from Colins garden in abundance.

New Zealand 283 for 9, so I sat there waiting for England to trounce them - and of course, rain stops play... typical.
Nothing for it but to go out to the shed!
I got out the static grass applicator, PVA, and assorted bits and pieces and got to work on the middle board of Teifi Gorge. We are thinking we might show it at Aberaeron Show August 8/9th. Probably as work in progress though, as there is an awful lot yet to do, and I want to crack on with Login for Peter, tidy up part of Boncath ready for Login Exhibit July 11/12, and also possibly the Woolen Mill on October the 24th.On top of that, there will be an exhibition of modelling in Cilgerran Hall on August 15th as part of the Horticultural Show, so I am thinking of doing something for that...
Anyhow. Pictures.
This is todays efforts:
Looking from Kilgerran towards St Dogmaels

And in the opposite direction:

Play is now resuming at Chester-Le-Street, but reduced to 24 overs.
Bye-bye.
Yet another Tuesday come and gone... We had a challenge last night - A friend of Emyr's wife had two 00 locomotives that were poorly, and wondered if we could repair them, so the evening was spent stripping and rebuilding. Only 50% success, but I suppose thats better than zero!

Today I cut a couple of holes in the middle board of the TGR layout. We decided to show a bit of the river bank, and a stream coming down from above the quarry workings and going under the track.
Holes were duly cut, reinforcement built underneath, 25mm polyurethane to fill in, Modroc to contour, and then disgusting gloop to cover the Modroc (the usual PVA, emulsion, plaster, paint...)
This is the river bank, and to the left of the track extra hill contours and the gully for the stream to go under the PW.

Second pic is with the tunnel and quarry section in place.
Cricket AND tennis on TV so I packed up for the day...

Following on from last week, there is a little bit of progress to report. I Modroc'd the hillside and quarry face that separates the middle board from St Dogs, and gave it a rough slap with a gloopy mix of emulsion paint, PVA, plaster and acrylic. Hopefully we will tidy it up tomorrow when the gang comes round.
As an experiment it is designed to be removable. This might, or might not work. Time will tell.
Anyhow - pictures.
This is the present state:

And now in position:

We await tomorrow...
