Hi Everybody.

Not a lot to report about this week, as the weather has been good, and we were all busy doing other things.
We met at Pats on Tuesday, just to catch up on things. We had intended to show Cardigan/Boncath at the Midway Motors Vintage Show on the previous Sunday, as the Cardi-Bach Society were having a display tent there.
Unfortunately the high winds on Friday/Saturday reduced the tent to a crumpled heap. We managed to put the Cardi-Bach Society stuff up in the main tent, but there was no room for the layouts. Ce la vie...

Colin had done some modeling, as usual. Lord knows how he finds time do it. Managed to place drivers inside his traction engines! I got as close as I could with the camera set on macro:

I managed to add a little bit more to the Login layout - the far end was a bit empty, so I made a rough model of 'Fron Felin' the farm thats down that way, though it should be much higher than the layout will allow

The end scenic board is just there to hide things at the moment...
Closer picture of the farm (sheep courtesy of Patrick):

Trees, undergrowth and a barn are yet to be added behind the farm.

Finally a close up of Granny about to cross the track. I know I posted her before, but I thought I would add another perspective.

Bye for now,
Shaun.
We had a very successful time with the Teifi Gorge layout at the West Wales Model Railway exhibition in Llwyncelyn on Sunday - the modules went together perfectly, and in record time. Operations went well, and we were delighted when Mike from Llangadog turned up and took over a controller for an hour or two.
A good exhibition, with a nice cross-section of all gauges from N through to G.

That was Sunday. Today is Wednesday, which means last night was ChufferDuffers!
We met here at Ty-Nant, and after Pat and I told the other two all about the exhibition we set to with various tasks.
Several of our readers are under the misguided impression that all we do on Tuesday nights is sit around drinking and eating cheese and pizzas... here is proof to the contrary!

A rare picture of everyone diligently working at various tasks. (for a while, anyway)

It didn't last!

All too soon we tired of manual labour, and settled down to more serious stuff.

Proof that something was achieved though can be seen in the mess left on the hobby bench:

In the foreground is one of the stock modules that will go at each end of the Login board, for storing a variety of locomotives and rolling stock that would have been used back when the Cardigan to Whitland branch line was in full swing.
Pete Towns, the owner of Login Station already has the engines and stock - all he needs is a layout to run them on...

Work is progressing on it though, albeit slowly!
A couple of comparison pictures to finish that show some of the characters from historic photographs

Thats it for this week folks, thanks for dropping in.
Shaun.

ChufferDuffers meeting last night, being a Tuesday...
We gathered at Charles' house, and had a very convivial evening, though it has to be said - not a very productive one! Having said that, the whole point of going to Charles is to relax and unwind after all the hectic work that takes place on other Tuesday evenings...
Before we knew it three and a half hours had gone in a flash! Patrick regaled us with anecdotes of his trip down South, and also reminisced about a trip to Athens in his dim and distant past. Most entertaining, but best kept amongst the four of us...

Colin brought along the latest development of his Gondola fairground ride - it now boasts railings around the periphary of the ride:

I had added a little bit more to Login - the outhouse at the station with a bit of walling and a post box:

Thats it folks...
Teifi Gorge is being exhibited at Llwyncelyn Hall, just outside Aberaeron, on Sunday - so come along and see us. Just Pat and myself this time, as Colin has to play with the vicars organ (we dont go too deeply into that - some things are best left to the imagination, like Pats adventures in Athens...)

Finally last nights aftermath, left for Charles to clear up:

Here at Llechryd next week, so we might get some work done.
Sunday August seventh. I have now been three months on this island... Sorry! I downloaded Robinson Crusoe onto my Kindle. Hadn't read it since school days, sixty years ago.

Anyway, on to the present.
This was Login as it was way back in the fifties (same as my schooldays!)

I had built the keepers cottage, which is in front of the station, but I couldn't fit it in to the layout as it stands, so I have converted it into Spring Cottage, the building(s) to centre left. The roof in the photo appears to be cement rendering on top of the slate, so I have tried to copy that.
Here is Spring Cottage in place, but with a bit more work yet to do to the semi-detached cottage to the left.

It has a flickering fire, and a light in the sitting room, where there is a sofa with a seated figure. Also a carpeted staircase in the hall. This is the best I could do with the camera macro setting:

Login had a delivery from the Great Western Railway of two of their platform benches, which were duly put in place, and promptly occupied by one of the village worthies.

The other bench was put under the station window, but requires some adjustment.

If you use Facebook, I heartily recommend that you look-up 'login railway station', which documents Peter and Dawns efforts at bringing the station back to life, the way it appeared before closure. All the better if you can call in - they do excellent cream teas at weekends...

The Duffers are meeting on Tuesday, as Pat has returned from his adventures in deepest Sussex, and is safely back in Gods Country.
More in a few days.

I thought I would post today as it is a Tuesday, although we are not having a meeting - Pat is still away, and I have family commitments, so the Duffers are having a night off.
Still managed to do a bit of work though.
Point operation on Login is simply wire in tube system, but we were wondering how to protect the wire. On our other layouts the controls are at the back, so just sticking knobs on the end of the wires sufficed.
However Login has them at the front... Pictured below is the solution. 3mm ply cut out on the Unitmat jigsaw with a simple lever system. Works a treat!

The area behind the station has been landscaped and grassed over, and the Station Master garden planted out with a selection of produce:

Also the fire-buckets have made an appearance:

Thats it for now, more in a day or so...
