Hello!

Monday the first of June, and the first blog of the Month.
Not a lot of progress regarding the cessation of Covid19 restrictions - although we can now travel 5 miles to meet a person... 5 miles being a bit of a laugh when nearly all of us have to go a lot further than that to do a weekly shop.
Gave me a chance to visit Pat (officially this time) and grab a few pics of his layout progress.
I would like to have visited Mike, but as he lives 70 miles away, that would be pushing my luck a little.

However, Mike did send me a photograph - they have been shearing their flock of assorted sheep, and we have this one of a naked ram (obviously...)
Answers on a postcard please of what he is saying to the other one - is it another ram? if so, does he bat from the pavilion end?
I suppose you can get gays in the ovine community...

Moving swiftly on -

Pat has done a bit of detailing to the 00 gauge layout -
Here we have a couple of staff hard at work cleaning one of the chocolate and cream carriages. I admit to a small amount of Photoshopping, as the man on the right was standing in mid-air, with just a bit of blu-tack holding him there.

More detailing was spotted on the approach to the bridge over the line -

Two workmen were working on some underground pipework. Not sure what utility, but one working, one watching, so probably council.
(no, that's wrong. If it was council they would be sitting down in the tent)

Pat tells me that the peanut butter will be replaced by suitable hedging material...

Moving on, work has taken place on the hotel building - the timber and plaster walls have been finished and chimney stacks and pots added - also lead flashing to the rooves.

In the foreground, as well as plant pots full of flowers the bar is being made up, and will eventually go inside the hotel, and hopefully be seen through the windows when the lounge is illuminated.

Lettering is yet to be added to the clips on the beer pumps...

Here they are in close up (my camera lens was about half an inch away - I couldn't get any closer):

That was it from my visit to Pat's  -
apart from an hour sat outside with Pat and Mary in the courtyard, under the sun-shade having coffee and scones and homemade bramble jelly. (keeping the stipulated 2 metres apart, as Mr Drakeford requests, of course. )

Back in the Llechryd garage workshop work has steadily gone on with the Teifi extension.
The CDU arrived, and was duly wired up to the points and power supply:
(Ignore that stray red wire)

And tested.
 - all points/ Seep solenoids performed as they should, via the little control panel:

Below that, I fitted a jack plug socket for the power supply and a DIN socket for one of our universal hand controllers.
We have at least nine, mostly made by Colin and they control any of our (at the last count) seven layouts.

Following on is an overhead view of the current state of the extension, with the track and sleepers painted with a matt brown enamel.
The grey is some of the closed-cell polyurethane, which will become the yard area in front of the engine shed and the tin works.

And that's it for this Mondays blog. If you would like to comment, just click on the pencil.

I leave you with a panoramic view of the Teifi taken on Saturday morning - starting and ending with my house up on the rise (brown garage door)
There is no soundtrack - I had to remove it because it was an annoying wind, and I'm still learning how to add audio. (not easy learning at my age!)

Until the next one,

Hwyl Fawr,

Shaun.

  1. It's hard to believe that the bridge was under water a couple of month's or so ago and still awaiting repairs.
