Our usual monthly Cardi-Bach meeting was scheduled for this Tuesday (June 5th) which we normally go to instead of our Chuffers meeting.
The committee decided that for this months meeting instead of a general meet at Y Bont in Llanglydwen we would have just a few members call at Login to assist Peter in preparing the new building. Emyr, Pat, Colin, Thomas and myself duly turned up on Tuesday evening and set to work with brushes, rollers and assorted tools. Current tasks were to undercoat the inside of the building, and make a start on the 'flat pack' kitchen units which are going to be storage units and bases for the railway models and displays.

Peter, Emyr, Pat and Thomas commandeered the rollers, whilst Colin and I made a start on the units.
The painting crew worked like Trojans, and soon had the undercoat finished:

Also inside, Peter had made window frames and ledges, using timber bought with a very kind donation from two gentlemen who called in for tea a few days ago

The units were constructed outside, as the weather was kind, though we weren't quite as fast with our work as the painters were, so they came and gave Colin and I a hand.
The picture below is a prime candidate for a 'Caption Competition' !!

We ended up constructing three cabinets in the allotted time, with only minor problems that anyone who has experience of flat packs will appreciate.
One of these problems can be spotted in the picture below...

Not insurmountable, as there are more units to build, and the door can be swapped for another one.
We wont name the responsible workman, who is wearing an orange shirt, as it could happen to the best of us.
There will be a chance to correct it in a few days, as we have decided to meet at Login again next Tuesday to carry on with the work. The evening ended with liquid refreshment kindly provided by Peter, and a selection of excellent cakes from Peter's wife, Dawn.
I've been told not to keep mentioning a certain members penchant for cake, so I will say nothing about the doggy bag...

TTFN
Shaun.
